Manitoba unemployment rate fell last month, despite the province losing thousands of full-time jobs.

Manitoba's jobless rate dropped two-tenths of a point in December, to 5.9 per cent. 

Winnipeg's rate went up four-tenths of a point, rising to 6.1 per cent last month.

Nationally, the Canadian economy added nearly 23,000 jobs in December, keeping the unemployment rate steady at 7.1 per cent.
