The future of the now vacant restaurant space, on the Esplanade Riel foot bridge, is up for debate.

Several city councilors have voiced their opinions saying the city might have to play a bigger role in making the site more viable for restaurateurs.

Some want the site open year round, while other councilors say it may mean having more than one tenant, or may even require a redesign.

After nearly two years Chez Sophie announced Monday it was closing its doors.

The owners say there's not enough business and operating costs are too high.
