Toban Schreyer, the son of former Manitoba premier and Governor General of Canada, Ed Schreyer, is charged with arson.

The charges stem from a house fire at 168 Walnut Street in Wolseley Nov.28.

Ed Schreyer owns the house, but neighbour say Toban, along with his wife and three children, lived there.

CTV News has now learned the 33-year-old man now faces two arson charges and a charge of cruelty to animals.

Damage to the three-storey house was pegged at $275,000.

Two cats were also missing after the blaze.

Tobin Schreyer's next scheduled court appearance is set for Feb. 23.

Ed Schreyer served as premier of Manitoba from 1969 to 1977, and as Governor General of Canada from 1979 to 1984.
