A Winnipeg family is struggling to say goodbye to a young mother killed in a fire on Alexander Avenue in the city's core Sunday.

Troy Hall said his sister, 20-year-old Jolene Myerion-Ducharme, was visiting friends Sunday when fire broke out in the duplex.

Hall said she will be greatly missed, especially by her father.

"She was a feisty little thing and small, but she had a big heart and was always smiling," he said.

"Everyone she loved, she let them know. She would tell you she loved you five times before she hung up the phone."

Myerion-Ducharme leaves a two-year-old daughter and three-year-son, and five older brothers.

Hall said he would like to know what happen the night of the fire. He has set up a GoFundMe page to help Myerion-Ducharme's children.

Myerion-Ducharme is one of three victims killed in the weekend fire. She was friends with 21-year-old Stephanie Meekis, killed the same night.

Melvin Jacob, 49, was sent to hospital in critical condition and later died.

One man is still in hospital in critical condition.

Monday, the Office of the Fire Commissioner said the cause of the fire was still under investigation. It found the fire was contained to one suite, and found both units in the duplex had working smoke alarms.
