A Lac du Bonnet man faces several charges after police seized drugs and firearms from a now condemned residence in the rural municipality.

Around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Lac du Bonnet, Whitmouth and Pinawa RCMP were called to assist emergency personnel at a residence near Pihulak Drive in the RM of Lac du Bonnet.

Police said when officers arrived there, they smelled a strong odour of marijuana and also saw an amount of the drug in plain view in the kitchen.

Officers began to search the property after a warrant was granted.

In total, RCMP said 110 plants were seized as well as a large quantity of dried marijuana.

Additionally, Officials said a large number of firearms, including a loaded revolver, were found throughout the residence and seized as part of the investigation.

Police arrested a 36 year-old man from the RM of Lac du Bonnet without incident and faces charges related to the possession of marijuana, unsafe storage of firearms and possession of an unregistered hand gun.

The residence was comdemned and locked after police consulted with the Office of the Fire Commission regarding numerous electrical issues inside the premises.

RCMP said officers also reached out to Manitoba Conservation as a white tail dear hide and head were found on the lawn next to the residence.

Manitoba Conservation officers conducted a separate investigation into several possible wildlife offences.

The investigation continues.
