Greg Selinger is now officially Manitoba's new premier after he was sworn in at a ceremony Monday morning.

Selinger, a former finance minister, is taking over the reigns from Gary Doer who is starting as Canada's ambassador to the U.S.

Surrounded by cheering staff, colleagues and supporters, Selinger was sworn in as the province's 21st premier.

On Saturday, Selinger defeated Steve Ashton in the NDP's leadership race.

At the top of Selinger's to-do list are dealing with the H1N1 outbreak and looking after the economy.

A cabinet shuffle is also expected for the NDP government in the next few weeks as Selinger settles into his new role as premier.
