A mosque that was built in Winnipeg has reached its intended destination in the Northwest Territories.

The 1,500 square-foot facility was shipped more than 4,000 km to Inuvik from Winnipeg.

A Manitoba Muslim organization aided with the project.

The mosque was transported by truck and then by barge.

The mosque arrived late Wednesday night. It's slated to serve as both a place of worship and a community centre for Inuvik's growing Muslim population.
