Three people died in a crash in Northern Manitoba Friday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., a southbound SUV and northbound car collided head-on on Provincial Road 384 near Moose Lake.

RCMP say blowing snow caused low visibility at the time.

Of five people inside the car, three of them died at the scene – the driver, a 41-year-old Moose Lake man, a 51-year-old woman from Moose Lake and a 37-year-old man from Opaskwayak Cree Nation. Two women from Moose Lake, ages 42 and 34, went to hospital with unknown injuries.

Police will not release the names of the deceased.

A 47-year-old man driving the SUV, along with a four-year-old boy and two-year-old girl, all from Moose Lake, went to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The RCMP has yet to determine if either driver was impaired and if the occupants were wearing seat belts.
