A Winnipeg man has been arrested for allegedly pointing a firearm at several people from inside a vehicle.

Police were called to 2100 block of McPhillips Street around 11:00 p.m. When they arrived, they said the suspect drove off at a dangerous speed.

The police sent in their helicopter, Air1, for back up. Air1 spotted the vehicle leaving the area and followed it to the 600 block of Sheppard Street.

Police found a bb gun and a paintball pistol. Several people were taken into custody.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and faces several weapons charges, including four counts of pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a firearm while prohibited, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless driving and driving without a licence.
