Man charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault after woman stabbed in Montreal

A woman was stabbed in the Plateau neighbourhood on Monday afternoon.

Montreal police say a man has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after a woman was stabbed Monday in the city’s Plateau neighbourhood.

The stabbing happened inside an apartment near the corner of St-Urbain and Marie-Anne streets shortly after 3 p.m.

The victim was sent to hospital in critical condition and remained in hospital Tuesday.

The accused is Antoine Gravel, 29, who is known to police. He is also facing one count of carrying a concealed weapon, police say.

The man’s relationship with the victim was not known.
