A grieving mother sits in a Winnipeg hotel room, wiping away tears, wondering why her 23-year-old daughter was found dead on God's Lake First Nation.

"I want to know what happened to my daughter,” said Beverley Andrews.

Beverley said Krystal Andrews was at a social over the weekend in God's Lake when she went missing.

Hundreds of kilometers away in Winnipeg, the worried mother reached out to the community for help.

"I kept phoning people to go look for her. I was on Facebook all night asking people all over God's Lake if they'd seen her," said Beverley.

On Monday, God's Lake Narrows RCMP said a woman's body was discovered in an isolated area of the remote first nation.

Officers consider the death suspicious.

Relatives said they're hearing several rumours about what happened, but are no closer to the truth.

"I don't want to believe until I know exactly what happened to her,"said Beverley.

RCMP say based on the initial steps of the investigation, officers believe there is no risk to public safety in the community.

No arrests have been made.

A vigil was held at the Quest Inn Wednesday night to remember Andrews.

About two dozen people came out to pray together, and listen to songs.
