A lone motorcyclist has been taken to hospital in critical condition after he crashed early Tuesday morning on Main St. between Bannatyne Avenue and Market Avenue, said police.

The rider apparently hit the median and was thrown into a planter around 3:30 a.m.

Officers temporarily closed northbound Main Street while they investigated, but said around 10 a.m. the road had re-opened to traffic.

Shortly before noon, police said the motorcyclist had been upgraded to stable condition.

Speed is considered a factor in the crash, said police.

Officers continue to investigate and asked that anyone who may have seen the incident or events leading up to the collision to call investigators at 204-986-6271.
