Brandon University and Assiniboine Community College have signed an agreement to improve course credit transfers between the two schools.

Called Connect 20-20, the agreement is expected to make it easier for students to move from one post-secondary institution to the other.

The transfer program will start with Assiniboine college's early childhood education course and expand to business and environmental sciences.

Brandon University president Lou Visentin says the partnership is unique.

He says it could become a model for other Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Assiniboine Community College president Joel Ward says students at the college are getting what amounts to equal footing with their university counterparts.

Assiniboine second-year student Stacy Rose says the move will offer her a chance to expand her education.
