Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that closed a North End street Tuesday morning.

At around 4:30 a.m. the fire broke out in a garage, then spread to a single-family home in the 700 block of Selkirk.

When fire crews arrived they found the home’s inside, outside and detached garage were engulfed in flames. Following an offensive attack on the blaze, the WFPS declared it under control around 5:50 a.m.

All people inside the home evacuated before fire crews arrived and no one was hurt.

Damage to the home is extensive, but no damage estimates are currently available.

Streets in the area were blocked off, but are now open.

The WFPS advises drivers in the area to be cautious because water used to battle the fire covered the road and is now frozen. City workers are monitoring the area, and are using sand and de-icing substances to decrease slipperiness.
