Officers have arrested two men wanted on warrants, including one man who was accidentally released from jail and another who escaped from prison.

Brian Moran, 21, was accidentally released from Headingley Correctional Centre on July 29. A warrant was issued for his arrest and police said he was known to be violent.

On Aug. 30, he was located at a residence in the 100 block of McFarlane Street and was taken into custody.

Officers have also arrested a man who escaped from the minimum security Rockwood Institution on Aug. 26.

Stephen Saunders, 54, had been serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence for possessing stolen goods, driving while disqualified and theft under $5,000, among other charges. He began serving his sentence in March 2010.

Officers said Saunders walked away from prison on Aug. 26. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Aug. 31, Saunders was located in the 600 block of Dalhousie Drive. The owner of a vehicle saw a man trying to break into his vehicle.

Following a short foot chase, the vehicle's owner apprehended the man and police were called.

Saunders initially gave officers a false name, but his real identity was discovered and he was taken into custody.

He faces a number of charges, including mischief under $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments, said officers.
