Police issued a community notice Monday about the release of a convicted sex offender from Headingley Correctional Centre.

“(Timothy) Torres, 29, has a history of violent sexual offending and though he has participated in some sex offender programming he is still considered at moderate-high risk to re-offend in a sexual manner against young females,” said the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit in a statement.

Police said he will be released from jail on June 3.

He will be subject to a probation order until June 2, 2017, which prohibits him from consuming alcohol or illegal drugs and bans him from accessing a computer or any device that would allow unsupervised access to the Internet. He is also banned from being near places where children under 16 years are likely to be in attendance, including schools, parks, swimming pools and recreation areas, unless he is accompanied by an adult approved in writing by probation services, said police.

Officers said vigilante action against Torres will not be tolerated.

Anyone with information on Torres can call the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit at 204-984-1888, Winnipeg Police Service at 204-986-2222, their local RCMP detachment or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477 or toll free at 1-800-222-8477.
