One man is dead after a collision involving two vehicles approximately 2.5 kilometres south of the Red River Floodway, while another man sustained serious injuries. The collision occurred on Jan. 25 just after 11:00 p.m.

RCMP said a vehicle had gone off the road earlier in the evening. The two men had returned to the vehicle with a pickup truck to attempt to pull the car out of the ditch.

While working beside the road, the men and the truck were struck by a southbound Oldsmobile. Both men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

One of the men, a 51-year-old from the RM of Richot, died at the hospital. The other man, a 23-year-old, remains in hospital with serious, undetermined injuries.

The two occupants of the Oldsmobile, males aged 19 and 18, were not injured.

No other people were involved in the accident.

Police said road conditions were icy and snow-covered. Alcohol is not considered a factor.

No further information is available. Police continue to investigate.
