Cantor’s Meats is remembering a man who helped start the local Winnipeg grocery store.

Oscar Cantor and his twin brother Joe helped start Cantor's with their parents back in 1943.

To survive, they started by selling chickens and eggs on their bicycles.

Last weekend, Oscar died at the age of 91.

"They used to fight over one another, because twins are twin, you never agree on the same conversation. You like one thing, the other doesn’t like it. But at the end of the day, they would make up and be buddies again," said Oscar and Joe’s nephew, Edward Cantor.

Joe passed away three years ago.

Edward said they owe their success to the community and their customers.
