Man, 60, facing charges following assault in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood

A 60-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges in connection to an armed assault at a building in Ottawa’s Centretown neighbourhood.

Emergency crews responded to a building on Nepean Street, between Bank Street and Kent Street, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a disturbance.

“Upon arrival one man was located with serious injuries, deemed to be from an assault,” the Ottawa Police Service said in a statement.

“A short time later, the suspect was arrested nearby.”

The victim remains in hospital.

An Ottawa paramedic spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa the call was for an “adult male assaulted with a blunt object.” The victim, an adult male, was transported to hospital in critical condition.

The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
