A 36-year-old man and 26-year-old woman have been arrested and charged after police said they recovered 26.5 grams of cocaine, a stolen 9mm Browning handgun, and cash inside a vehicle Monday evening.

At roughly 6:15 p.m., police said they noticed a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Pembina Highway. Officers said they approached the vehicle and identified the male driver as a prohibited driver, which means he was not permitted to drive a vehicle anywhere in the country. Officers said they also noticed methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

Police then searched the vehicle further and discovered the money along with the gun and cocaine. All of the items were seized by officers.

Police said the 9mm Browning had been reported stolen in 1981.

Derreck Chad Maddock, 36, was charged with 23 offences including trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine.

Victoria Lee Woods, 26, who was also in the vehicle, has also been charged with 19 similar offences.
