RCMP are considering charges in a collision that injured a teenage pedestrian.
It happened Tuesday afternoon in Carberry.
Police said a 17-year-old from the area was driving a pickup truck, lost control, and hit the boy outside Carberry Community Centre, near the town's high school.
A 14-year-old local boy was pinned between the truck and a wall. He was taken to hospital with several injuries, said RCMP.
The investigation continues and police are considering charging the driver.
"Certainly, charges are being contemplated under the criminal code - driving offences, but again, the matter is under investigation so until such time as the investigation is completed, I'm not able to say at this point what the exact charges may be," said Staff Sgt. Mike Zens from RCMP.
Three other boys who were with the victim said they were eating lunch outside when the collision happened. They said they didn't have time to get their friend out of the way before the truck slid towards the building and struck the 14-year-old boy.
Friends said he is being treated in intensive care at a Winnipeg hospital.
At the school in Carberry, mental health workers have been brought in to help students cope.
"We'll continue to monitor and if we need to bring in additional support to support our staff and students, we'll do that," said Jason Young, Beautiful Plains School Division superintendent.
