The Winnipeg Police Service is calling Thursday, April 17 a bitter sweet day as a police dog and handler who have been partners for more than 10 years will hit the streets together for one last time.

Along with Patrol Sergeant Taylor, police dog Judge has been involved in more than 500 tracking arrests and apprehensions.

Judge has sired a total of 41 pups, six of whom followed in Judge’s paw prints and are now on patrol with WPS.

According to WPS, a number of the other pups work with various police agencies across Canada and the United States.

Patrol Sergeant Taylor is moving out of the K9 Unit and into Investigations.

Judge will live out his retirement as a pet in Patrol Sergeant Taylor’s family home.
