Police have identified a 45-year-old man from Manitoba who died in a crash near Kenora on Wednesday.

Officers said Amir Mohammadi from Winnipeg died in the collision about 30 km east of Kenora on Highway 17.

It was reported shortly before 2 a.m.

Police said a westbound tractor-trailer jackknifed on the highway and collided with Mohammadi's eastbound truck.

Another truck and car collided with each other as they tried to avoid the initial crash. No one involved in the second set of collisions was seriously injured.

Officers closed down the highway to traffic for much of the day while crews responded.
