Winnipeg police have charged a 21-year-old woman in a stabbing that sent two women to hospital Sunday morning.

Officers went to a home in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue around 2 a.m. to find two women injured – one critically.

A 24-year-old woman was found stabbed in the upper body and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. A 17-year-old in the home was also taken to hospital but was released shortly after with minor injuries, police said.

Several cruiser cars and the forensic identification unit remained on scene into the evening Sunday.

Neighbour Wesley Bunn said the tenants that lived in the home where the stabbing took place had just moved in.

“I looked outside and saw a block full of ambulance and police,” said Bunn. “(I) was a bit concerned noting that the tenants had just moved in this month.”

A 21-year-old woman is now facing multiple charges including assault with a weapon and breach of probation.

Winnipeg police continue to investigate.
