RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl.

RCMP said the girl was playing by a road on Aug. 2 around 5 p.m. in the Rossville area of Norway House when she was abducted. The girl was taken to a secluded area in the Fort Island area of Norway House and sexually assaulted, said officers.

The girl was then dropped off about an hour later at a relative’s residence, RCMP said.

Police have now released a sketch of the suspect. He is described as aboriginal in appearance with a thin build, long hair and a pock-marked face. RCMP said he was driving a dirty, dark-coloured pick-up truck at the time of the assault.

Officers are now hoping to identify the suspect with the public’s help.

Anyone with information is asked to call Norway House RCMP at 204-359-6715 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
