A 22-year-old man is charged with attempted murder after a shooting incident in Valley River First Nation over the weekend.

Around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Prairie Mountain RCMP received a report of a man shooting a firearm at a residence in the community.

RCMP said its initial investigation revealed a local man fired a shotgun through the window of a residence. The shots were aimed at a 23 year-old man inside following an argument between the two men.

Officers said the intended victim ran from the scene and was chased by the suspect, who fired several more times in his direction.

The victim did not suffer any injuries connected to the shooting, but was treated for minor cuts and bruises.

RCMP said officers on patrol found and arrested Adam Barry Gordon McKay, a 22 year-old man from Valley River First Nation, without incident.

Mckay is charged with attempted murder, break and enter with intent, dangerous driving, two counts of assault, three counts of breach of undertaking and five firearm-related charges.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Dauphin court on Dec. 15.

RCMP said no other details are available and the investigation continues.
