At 8 p.m. Saturday, RCMP confirmed the death of a 22-year-old man who was pulled from the water at Birds Hill Provincial Park.

At 4:45 p.m., Saturday, a young man was located in the water, according to RCMP.

They said the man was unresponsive and emergency personnel were working on him on route to hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the park around 3 p.m. RCMP said beach safety officers were searching the water for a missing man.

Three boats were sweeping the water, and volunteers were working with beach patrol to walk shallow areas of the water, RCMP said.

The province also confirmed a person was reported missing.

Beach-goers watched from the shoreline as emergency personnel waded into the water.

Police tape could be seen around a section of the beach.
