Merck Canada has issued a recall for certain lots of Zenhale products because of a possible device malfunction after 24 months of self-life, which could lead to a patient receiving a lower dose of medication than expected.

This could potentially result in increased asthma symptoms and serious asthma-related conditions.

Affected product should be returned as per the directions in the recall notice.

Merck Canada has reduced the shelf-life of all  Zenhale products from 36 months to 24 months.

Pharmacies are expected to have the new Zenhale product available by March 23.

All new stock will have a shelf-life of 24 months.
