A local restaurant owner is celebrating Vietnamese New Year by helping feed less fortunate people in the city.

Johnny Kien, owner of Saigon Jon’s Vietnamese Kitchen, is asking patrons to drop off two non-perishable food items in exchange for a 50 per cent discount off any entrée.

The food will then be dropped off at Winnipeg Harvest.

Kien says Vietnamese New Year is like Christmas, birthdays and Thanksgiving all rolled into one, and he felt compelled to use his newly opened restaurant as a vehicle to help others.

Donations can be dropped off at any time on Saturday.
