City sanding crews were out Thursday night to try and help drivers get a grip on the icy streets.

Snow plows and graders also spent the night on the streets, targeting areas where drifting snow and compacted ice made driving treacherous.

Sanding and spot plowing will continue on Friday on regional and collector streets.

The city advises drivers to take extra caution in these slippery conditions. Keep a greater distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you, and use extreme caution when driving near snow clearing and sanding equipment.

The city said the regular snow route parking ban remains in place, which means parking is prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on streets displaying “Snow Route” signs.
