Dozens of Winnipeggers held a peaceful gathering on Selkirk Avenue after a demonstration in New Brunswick ended in violence.

A medicine walk started at the Selkirk Avenue bell tower and ended with a pot luck supper. The group stands in solidarity with New Brunswick protesters against natural gas fracking.

On Thursday, another event in Winnipeg to support the same cause took heat because protestors disrupted traffic and desecrated a Canadian flag.

“I hope those who were inconvenienced or acknowledge the delivery of the message educate themselves on why we thought the message was important and continue to think it's important,” said organizer Michael Champagne.
