Former NHLer Sheldon Kennedy appeared in Winnipeg Tuesday to help promote an online anti-bullying campaign.

Kennedy led a team in floor hockey against another featuring Education Minister Nancy Allan at Andrew Mynarski Junior High School.

Kennedy, who has also spoken out against child sexual abuse, talked Tuesday about the Respect in School program. It’s an online course that trains volunteers and teachers on how to spot signs a child might be a victim of abuse or bullying.

The program was rolled out in February and is a 2.5 hour online course, offered through Manitoba school divisions.

The province is putting up $300,000 over the next three years to make it widely available.
