Most of the province is on the receiving end of snow today and tonight, courtesy of a low pressure system crossing Manitoba. At most, 2-5 cm is expected, but it's the mix of other conditions that could make things tricky by this evening.

By early afternoon, the low was near Lake Winnipeg and heading southeast. The trailing cold front is causing temperatures to fall in its wake across northern and central regions, even as far south as Dauphin this afternoon.

The southwest and southern Red River Valley could see northwest winds gust up to 90 km/h which could be damaging. But winds are very strong across the south including Winnipeg.

A rain/snow mix is possible this afternoon in the south. Blowing snow could also reduce driving visibility. But with temperatures climbing above zero this afternoon, be prepared for slippery roads and highways by early this evening as temperatures slip back below freezing.

Expect blowing snow and a return to colder temperatures in the min-minus teens in Winnipeg on Thursday.
