Welcome to the first day of fall that feels like the middle of summer!
Fall officially arrived with the autumnal equinox at 8:30 a.m. But there is nothing that feels like fall about today's conditions in the south. Strong south winds are helping push daytime high temperatures into the mid to upper 20s this afternoon. For perspective, Winnipeg's normal high for this time of year is 16C. The forecast high for the city today is 28C!
Meanwhile, clouds are slow to move out of the north today. Also, another round of scattered showers or thunderstorms is making its way across the north today into this evening. Once that ends, scattered fog is expected to develop overnight.
The winds will shift from the northwest with a passing cold front in Winnipeg and the south on Wednesday. It will bring temperatures back to reality, in the upper teens, with cloudy conditions. Maybe even showers, too.
But then temperatures will be on the upswing once again. Granted, not as high as today, but back into the low 20s from Thursday through Saturday with Sunday not far off the mark. Conditions will be nice along the way, too, with sunshine or a mix of sun and clouds.
