Well, we've made it to the first day of March. But is the month arriving like a lamb or a lion? Relatively speaking, I'd say more of a lion. At least, compared to the rest of this week.
Temperatures today will only reach -13C to - 10C in the southeast while the southwest will be a few degrees milder, but still well below freezing. South winds will also be strong and gusting across the south.
Those winds are ahead of a low pressure system that will spead snow today through Tuesday morning across northern regions. It looks like the heaviest amounts, 5-10 cm, will fall from The Pas to Island Lake.
Meanwhile, temperatures in the south will rise this evening and overnight. Continued strong south winds will bring much milder temperatures by Tuesday.
By 'much milder,' I mean daytime highs Tuesday around 5C. The catch will be strong winds again, but from the north as the low passes by further north.
Wednesday will be slightly cooler, but highs should still reach around freezing before returning closer to 5C for the rest of the work. The weekend could be even warmer!
And aside from today, most days should be quite sunny.
