A Winnipeg spa owner charged with human trafficking and extortion was granted bail on Friday.

Simple Mehta, 39, the owner of Simi Magic Spa, has been released with several conditions.

The court ruled Mehta is not allowed to operate as an aesthetician or massage therapist, not allowed any internet access and has a curfew, meaning she must remain at home, from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. daily.

Pam Sandhu, 22, an employee of the spa charged with extortion and sexual assault, was also granted bail with similar conditions.

Mehta and Sandhu are not allowed to communicate with each other.

Mehta is charged with human trafficking, procurement, extortion, procuring and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Sandhu is charged with extortion, voyeurism, sexual assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
