St. Boniface’s city councilor has flip-flopped on his support for an underpass at Marion and Archibald.
CTV has confirmed Matt Allard has concerns about the project’s price tag and how it will impact the neighbourhood.
A total of 140 expropriations are required for the $250-million project.
Several area businesses and homeowners were upset after they learned about the full scope of the proposal.
It’s a major change of heart for Allard, who campaigned publicly in March to secure federal funding for the plan.
Eight trains and up to 40,000 vehicles a day pass through the intersection.
