Shoppers could be seen in toques and jackets as the St. Norbert Farmer’s Market kicked off its 25th season in Winnipeg on Saturday.

Despite the damp and chilly weather, all the usual homemade crafts and goodies were on display.

The first phase of a $600-thousand dollar site improvement is set to begin this year.

It will include a new community park, better site drainage, seating and pathways.

Since opening in 1988, the market has grown from eight to more than a hundred vendors.

It is open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 3 a.m.
