The Winnipeg Police Service said two women are facing charges in relation to an early Monday morning stabbing.

A 53-year-old man was stabbed in the upper body shortly before 1 a.m., Monday morning in the 700 block of Stella Avenue, according to police.

Police arrested two women at the scene.

The investigation by members of the major crimes unit found that the man had entered into an agreement for sexual services with one woman and went to a residence in the 700 block of Stella Avenue, said police.

Officers believe another woman broke into the man’s vehicle, taking belongings before arming herself with a knife and confronting the man in the house, demanding his bank PIN.

The man refused and police said he was assaulted by both women.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition but then upgraded to stable.

Lisa Anne McNeilly, 28 and Liberty Devine Indigo, 30, are facing charges of robbery, assault with a weapon among other charges, said police.
