A former Winnipeg man at the centre of a Canada-wide warrant has turned himself into police.

Apay Ogouk, 26, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault after two women accused him of infecting them with HIV.

A woman named Christine said she remembers feeling as if her heart was sinking into my stomach when she learned about her diagnosis.

She said when Ogouk gave her HIV, he knew he was infected. She believes he also infected at least two other women.

On Wednesday, police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Ogouk's arrest. The next day, Ogouk walked into a Calgary police district office and turned himself in.

He was immediately taken into custody and will be sent back to Winnipeg next week to face aggravated assault charges, Calgary police said.

Christine said Ogouk was the life of the party, but he intentionally put her life on the line and now she wants him to pay for that with his freedom.
