Winnipeg police said a 14-year-old boy faces multiple charges, including break and enter and sexual assault with a weapon.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, officers were called to Elmwood for a report of a break and enter in progress.

Officers located a male suspect in the residence "committing a serious sexual assault involving a female youth victim,” said police.

The suspect fled the scene. Following a short pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody, said police.

The 14-year-old male suspect faces several charges, including two counts of sexual assault with a weapon, break and enter, forcible confinement, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, said police.
