20,000 Manitoba elementary and high school students will cast ballots April 18 as part of a province-wide student election.

287 schools have registered to participate in Student Vote Manitoba. Kids will cast ballots for the official candidates running in the provincial election, representing all 57 electoral divisions across Manitoba.

Leading up to the vote, students will participate in a series of instructions and activities focused on candidates, leaders and party platforms.

Students will also work as election workers during the student election.

The results will be released as the polls close on election day at 8:00 p.m..
