WINNIPEG -- Three Winnipeg healthcare workers at three different facilities have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to separate statements from the facilities, workers at St. Amant, Deer Lodge Centre, and Actionmarguerite St. Boniface have contracted the disease.

ST. AMANT

The St. Amant employee works for Health and Transition Services. The non-profit said the employee works nights with Adult Services and last worked on Sept. 10.

St. Amant said its Health and Transition Services staff have been working with Public Health on risk assessment and contact tracing.

All families involved with Health and Transition Services have also been notified. St. Amant noted at this time, no one supported by Health and Transition Services has any symptoms.

The non-profit said risk is considered low, but Public Health has declared an outbreak out of caution. It noted the province has moved Health and Transition Services’ response level on the Pandemic Response System to critical.

In response to this COVID-19 case, St. Amant is taking a number of precautions, including: suspending admissions and rescheduling respite stays, temporarily restricting in-person visitation for Adult Services (first floor), completing a deep clean of the Adult Services and common areas, and moving back to virtual rounds for Adult Services.

DEER LODGE CENTRE

The Deer Lodge Centre employee works in the Lodge 6 Unit.

The centre said in a statement it does not believe there’s any risk of transmission, but has still enhanced its safety and infection control protocols.

Any patient in Lodge 6 with respiratory symptoms will be tested for the cause of their illness, which includes testing for COVID-19. Deer Lodge Centre said it will notify families if someone is being tested.

ACTIONMARGUERITE ST. BONIFACE

The Actionmarguerite employee works in the Special Needs Behavioural Unit. The last day they worked was Sept. 10. Actionmarguerite noted the Special Needs Behavioural Unit is a secure unit with nine residents.

The assisted living facility said, out of caution, an outbreak has been declared for units 5 ABC.

As of now, no other residents or employees at the facility are showing any symptoms.

If a resident does show symptoms, they will be tested and their families will be notified.

Actionmarguerite St. Boniface has put in a number of measures to keep people safe, which includes: restricting residents to their own unit in the building, indoor, outdoor, and essential visits have been suspended, and suspending admissions to the facility.
