Environment Canada confirms a landspout tornado touched down at 3:23 p.m. on Friday, two miles (3.2 kilometres) southwest of Elgin.

It lasted two to three minutes.

There are no reports of any damage. Environment Canada believes the touchdown was in a field.

There is still thunderstorm activity in the area, so Environment Canada expects to continue funnel cloud-related advisories until approximately 6:30 p.m. once daytime heating begins to subside.
