Three Manitoba women can now call themselves gold medal champions after Canada’s U-18 Women’s Hockey Team beat the United States on Sunday 3-0.

Kate and Sara Manness from La Salle and Hayley McDonald from St. Paul’s all represented Canada at the tournament in Finland.

McDonald finished the tournament with seven points (four goals and three assists) in six games.

Sara had two goals and six assists, while her sister Kate tallied two assists throughout the tournament.

According to Hockey Canada, Kate and Sara were the fifth pair of sisters to represent the maple leaf at the tournament and became the first sisters to do so at the same tournament.
