Winnipeg police have recovered two stolen vehicles and have two youth in custody after a lengthy overnight chase.

Dashnim Bajrushi got a call from police at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday and officers told him his stolen car had been recovered.

Bajrushi said the car was taken from in front of his Aldgate Road home where it was parked in the driveway.

He admits he forgot the keys in the vehicle but still says he was shocked to find his car gone.

He said there wasn't much gas in the tank so he said the suspects likely couldn't have gotten very far.

He was told by police the vehicle was recovered just a couple blocks from his home.

It was one of two vehicles Winnipeg police recovered Tuesday morning.

They also have two girls in custody after a long chase.

Officers were called to River Park South around 2:00 a.m. when a resident reported suspicious activity.

A group of youth were spotted in a vehicle, later confirmed to be stolen, and they appeared to be checking out other cars.

When police arrived, the group scattered.

After about 50 minutes of chasing, including the use of the canine unit, police arrested two suspects.

Police said one youth sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still looking for at least two more suspects.
