Two women are in hospital after the vehicle they were in crashed into a grain auger, then was rear-ended by a semi-trailer near Portage la Prairie. The crash happened at Highway 1 and Road 42 at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say the 45-year-old driver of a Chevy Traverse was travelling westbound on Highway 1, when she ran into a grain auger, being towed by a pick-up truck. Her SUV was then rear-ended by a semi-trailer.

The driver was sent to hospital with unknown injuries. Her 18-year-old passenger was also sent to hospital, as a precautionary measure.

The drivers of the pickup truck and semi-trailer were not injured.

RCMP are investigating the crash.
