Winnipeg police said a pair of male teenagers assaulted a man in his 70s and robbed him while he was working in the Fort Rouge-River Heights area early Saturday morning.

Police said it happened at approximately 2:15 a.m. in the Grosvenor Avenue-Wentworth Avenue area.

The man was working when he was confronted by two teens who demanded his personal items. The man was then assaulted by the two suspects with a weapon and suffered a serious head wound, police said.

Officers said the two suspects stole his personal items along with his vehicle, a 2009 light grey Dodge Caravan. Officers said they recovered the vehicle on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was treated in hospital and is in stable condition.

Police said the suspects are both white, in their late teens, and one of them has a stocky build while the other is thinner.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call police at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
