RCMP are investigating a number of complaints of vandalism to vehicles in a Steinbach neighbourhood.

Officers said the damage happened over the long weekend on Spruce Crescent.

"Three, four hours of serious elbow grease to get the stuff off," said Len Friesen about his vandalized car.

Friesen says vandals poured a concrete curing compound onto his van and his neighbour’s car.

In total, a dozen vehicles were damaged. RCMP said some were broken into, others by damaged with paint, tires slashed and tail lights smashed.

“Basically what they're doing is their walking around and they're looking for unlocked vehicles because that's the easiest to gain access to,” said Sgt. Joanne Ryall of the Steinbach RCMP.  “If you leave valuables they're going to take them.”

Police are now asking people to watch for suspicious individuals in their neighborhoods and to make sure to keep all valuables out of sight.

Two people have been arrested in connection with some of the incidents, but police said officers are still looking for more suspects.

Officers are asking anyone with information on this incident or identifying the suspects to come forward. Tips can be made by calling the Steinbach detachment at 204-326-4452 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
