Tuesday marks Winnipeg’s Eighth Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.

It’s a day set aside to recognize and remember people who have been discriminated against because of their gender identity.

Organizers say the Day of Remembrance is also about raising awareness, and advocating for the rights of people who identify themselves as transgendered.

A vigil will take place at the Circle of Life Thunderbird House Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The event is free and everyone is welcome.
